To Travel is to Live

This summer I went on an adventure of a lifetime with my sister. A three week, four country, eight city go go go go kind of trip. We went to Berlin, Dresden, Nuremberg, Munich, Salzburg, Prague, Krakow and Warsaw.

We stayed in hostels, we rented bedrooms from the locals, we walked miles and miles every day and experienced every kind of ground transportation you could possibly imagine. We ate (and drank) our way through each country like our life depended on it. Our day started with coffee and danish, you know, for fuel … and then sometime around lunch, the beer drinking would begin and last all the way until we were settled in bed.  We went to church more in three weeks than we had in, oh, quite some time but let’s just say we made our mother proud!

We saw more things than I can possibly write about in a blog post (and keep your attention) — but the best part about traveling with a photographer is capturing it all to see later. The worst part about traveling with a photographer is that we take photographs of things like doors and the cobble stone streets and all sorts of random things the creative brain needs to remember! But — thankfully my sister happily obliged so long as we stopped for more beer every couple of hours (our feet needed breaks, too).  And she only stuck her tongue out at me a few times.

It was a trip I will never forget — I saw so many things I’ve always wanted to see and experience, I journaled like crazy, I discovered things about myself that I forgot! And now I have Wanderlust for more places … but I fear I’ve lost my travel partner since my sister got engaged right after we came back! So, if you know of a tall, dark, handsome man who is sweet, loving, kind, likes to hold hands and take romantic walks on the beach — send them my way! 🙂

Grab a cup of coffee, or better yet, a dark German beer, and enjoy the show!

I’m so glad that you and your sister were able to go on this trip. A wonderful experience for you both. There is so much to learn about the world we live in. Fun to see the photos you captured.ReplyCancel
