Meet Charlie.

… this session was full of so many different kinds of emotion. Happy. Sad. Elated. Solemn. Blessed … and yet hurting all at the same time.

Sweet Charlie has the sweetest, most loving, dedicated and kind parents. Sometimes you meet people and you just *know* they are good down to their soul. They just have an energy about them. Sweet Charlie is so very loved and is so lucky to be born to this couple. I only wish he could stay on this earth and grow old with them.

As I worked on these pictures today, Rascal Flatts came on — I Won’t Let Go — and tears started streaming down my face.

“It’s like a storm
That cuts a path
It breaks your will
It feels like that

You think you’re lost
But you’re not lost on your own
you’re not alone

I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you’ve done all you can do
If you can’t cope
I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won’t let go

It hurts my heart
To see you cry
I know it’s dark
This part of life
Oh it finds us all
And we’re too small
To stop the rain”

They turned out beautiful! Of course, I cried, but I also smiled. Charlie’s a lucky little guy but not as lucky as the two of you to have each other! ReplyCancel

Katie, Thank you so much for helping us capture this special time in our lives. We are honored to be chosen by God to be Charlie’s parents. He is such a special boy. He is ours. We love him and with him we are well pleased. Blessed are we who have been touched by this little angel’s life. ReplyCancel

Katie, thank you for the kind words. We especially thank you and our friends for the pictures and wonderful memories that will go hand in hand with them. Charlie’s story has touched so many lives and his spirit is strong.

For some of you this may be the first time that you see that Callie is pregnant. We are starting our 33rd week and Charlie is growing bigger and stronger every day. As Katie alluded, Charlie’s life has been celebrated with laughter and tears. We found out early on that Charlie screened positive for Trisomy 13, a genetic condition that most often results in death. In Charlie’s case we expect that he may only live a few hours. Yet, Callie and I have embraced his life from the time we found out we were pregnant… on my birthday back in December.

We both decided that we will celebrate his life until it is time to mourn his death. He may never know much about this world but what he does know is that his parents love him. We have had so many great experiences with Charlie and we have shared so much with him. God has truly blessed us in so many ways with our dear son and we are thankful. We know the remainder of Charlie’s story has already been written by God and we are patiently, faithfully, and prayerfully seeking God’s will for all of us.

Both Callie and I have been openly sharing Charlie’s story. It has not always been easy, but memories like those from this day of pictures has really been special. Thanks to everyone who put this together. Thanks too to all of those who have been on this journey and for your prayers and support.

    Charlie’s dad 🙂ReplyCancel

To be loved so unconditionally, regardless of his diagnosis, when the promise of tomorrow is not guaranteed…that love is captured beautifully in these photos. Thank you for sharing Charlie with us through these pictures and throughout your journey. Prayers always for you three.
